Assistive Technology
Assistive Technology at Ability Connection Texas
The Assistive Technology program (also known as our Removing Limits Through Technology program) at Ability Connection Texas is an innovative program that educates children and adults on how to use assistive technology to be more independent in their daily lives. This program features an assistive technology lab with a variety of computer-related and other technologies along with training opportunities. What is Assistive Technology?
Assistive Technology (AT) is defined as any piece of equipment, program, or system, whether commercially available, modified, or custom built, that is used to maintain or increase the functional capabilities of a person with a disability. Assistive technology can be as high tech as a Voice-activated Computer, or as simple and low-tech as Velcro.
