About Texas Home Living (TxHmL)
The Texas Home Living program (TxHmL) program at Ability Connection Texas provides vital services and supports to individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our dedicated team of professionals at ACT work with each individual in this program to ensure they receive the very best care and support around!There are many services and supports offered through our Texas Home Living program. The service type and amount of each service is based on the needs of each individual and reviewed annually at a special planning conference. These services are available for individuals who live in their own homes or with their family.
TxHmL MENU OF SERVICES:
The following services are available through ACT’s Texas Home Living (TxHmL) program:
- Adaptive aids
- Minor home modifications
- Specialized therapies (audiology, speech/language pathology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and dietary services)
- Behavioral support
- Dental treatment
- Nursing care
- Community support
- Respite
- Day habilitation
- Employment assistance
- Supported employment
- ACT also provides non-medical in-home services through this program, including: checking client’s wellbeing and home/living conditions, performing safety checks and verifying emergency/disaster preparedness plan, scheduling appointments, assisting with errands (as needed), checking supplies and providing online information related to personal services.
TxHmL ELIGIBILITY
Since the Texas Home Living (TxHmL) program is overseen by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS), there are specific eligibility requirements. To be eligible for the TxHmL program, individuals must have a diagnosis of mental retardation (or related condition) and qualify for Medicaid. ENROLLMENT IN TxHmL
Enrollment for the Texas Home Living program is overseen by local Mental Retardation Authorities (MRAs). To find the MRA in your county, you can visit
